Fungi & Color: From Forest Forage to Handcrafted Dyes, Pigments, Paints & Inks @ Stika Center for Art & Ecology

  • Sitka Center for Art & Ecology 56605 Sitka Drive Otis, OR, 97368 United States (map)

Step into the hidden world of mushroom color! Though often overlooked, fungi hold some of the most surprising and gratifying hues in nature. Join me for this hands-on workshop. You'll journey from forest to studio: we begin with an inspiring day in the woods, learning to spot, identify, and respectfully forage dye mushrooms while deepening your understanding of the mycological world.

Back in the studio, you’ll transform your harvest into dazzling dyes, pigments, paints, and inks—unlocking a spectrum of color you never knew mushrooms could hold. Through guided demonstrations and creative play, you’ll explore extraction techniques and experiment with the full palette these forest friends offer.

You’ll head home with the confidence to find and identify dye mushrooms on your own, plus a beautiful collection of your creations: a mushroom color chart, a hand-dyed bandana, pigment and ink samples, and a detailed instructional craftbook to continue your journey into the art of mushroom color.
